Tiger Blue is a beautiful, traditionally-built, phinisi yacht offering guests the chance to escape the crowds and discover the crystal clear waters, island landscapes and spectacular natural beauty of Komodo and Raja Ampat in Eastern Indonesia.
History & Story
Built by one of Indonesia’s premier boatbuilders, Tiger Blue started life on a beach in South Sulawesi where they have been building phinisi using traditional techniques for generations. As the keel was laid in 2008, a ceremony called ‘potong lunas’ was performed by a local religious man to ensure a smooth construction process and safe passage to the boat throughout her life. Today, with spacious living areas and five en-suite cabins sleeping up to 12 people, Tiger Blue provides guests with room to sit back, relax and enjoy the incredible scenery of Eastern Indonesia.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
No day is typical on Tiger Blue except for the hours of relaxation. Guests simply choose the pace and the activities they wish to do and let the Tiger Blue team look after the rest. Perfect for a family adventure or the ultimate once in a lifetime trip with friends, Tiger Blue offers guests the ideal opportunity to relax and spend quality time together.
From May to September, Tiger Blue sails the turquoise waters of Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the world’s largest lizard, the Komodo dragon. In October or November, as the weather changes, the boat relocates to Raja Ampat, a stunning archipelago of over 1,500 small islands, cays and shoals and home to some of the most diverse marine life in the world. After 5 months in these spectacular surroundings, Tiger Blue embarks on the journey back south to Komodo for the summer season. The twice yearly voyages from Komodo to Raja Ampat and vice versa are the ultimate sea safari offering guests the chance to experience the very best of all this incredible region has to offer.
