Molori Safari Lodge
History & Story
Molori Safari was built as a family lodge in 2007 and in 2010, it became known for its exclusivity and soon became an international celebrity hide away. As the lodge comprises only five suites, it is the perfect bespoke, luxury safari destination for those in search of personalised, intuitive service and privacy. The architecture and design of the property represents the family’s distinctive aesthetic – a collection of art and furniture collected from across the globe and carefully placed, revealing a story of their experiences and predilections. Molori is renowned for its tailored, family friendly safari expériences.

Main Strengths, Special Touch
Distinct interiors, tailored personalised service, thrilling game drives with award winning guides, mouth-watering, global cuisine and luxury spa treatments, provide an ideal, bespoke luxury safari.
Molori Safari is situated in the 75 000-hectare, malaria-free and game-rich, Madikwe Game Reserve. It is an ideal safari environment for international travellers to visit as guests get to experience wildlife encounters of the ‘Big 10’ (in addition to the Big 5 – wild dog, hippo, cheetah, hyena and giraffe). It is the perfect destination for families travelling with young children or for travellers not keen on taking malaria prophylactics.
Key sites/activities in the area
Game drives and bush walks led by our experienced guides from the lodge. Luxury spa treatments or yoga on our large spa deck. Conservation experiences which include wildlife notching. These are linked to conservation efforts undertaken in the game reserve by conservation officers and are charged for over and above the stay at Molori Safari. The funds generated from these experiences go towards the ongoing conservation of wildlife in the game reserve. Guests can fly-in-and-out in a helicopter for day and overnight experiences to the Ichikowitz Foundation’s K9 facility that specialises in anti-poaching programmes across the continent.
Molori means to dream in the local language, Setswana.
One of our presidential suites, Molelo – which means fire – got its name due to a fire that broke out on the day the suite was completed. It had to be completely rebuilt.
The main road through the Madikwe Game Reserve was used as an historical route by a Southern African King, Mzilikazi Khumalo. Mzilikazi (meaning The Great Road), was a southern African king who founded the Matabele kingdom, (Mthwakazi), Matabeleland, in what became Rhodesia and is now Zimbabwe.
For children, Molori Safari presents a world of adventure and discovery. Our experienced game rangers are passionate about sharing their knowledge with younger guests and opening their eyes to a whole new world of creatures both large and small. Children over the age of 6 can participate in exciting animal tracking and identification excursions, learn about the Madikwe Reserve’s Super Seven and the importance of conservation, and grow an appreciation for all the small gifts nature has to offer. Other children’s activities include pizza making, baking, fishing, games and creative expression all done at the main lodge.
Other Junior Ranger activities include pizza making, baking, fishing, games and creative expression.

Guests have a choice of dining experiences to choose from in our main lodge – the formal dining room, our boma, the stardeck or they can enjoy a specially catered meal in the comfort of their suite.
The finest South African wines and top-shelf liquors accompany all meals on an inclusive basis. The lodge also has a spectacular collection of fine imported wines and special vintage whiskeys and cognacs available for guests at an additional cost.
Treatments can be done in the spa’s comfortable indoor treatment room or in the fresh, natural setting of the spa’s outdoor deck area. Guests can also enjoy private spa treatments in their own suites.
Our fitness centre is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a treadmill, bike and cross-trainers. Other accessories include weights and pilates and yoga equipment. The centre also features a spacious steam room and Nordic sauna, both overlooking an inviting chiller pool.
Corporate & Celebration Events
Molori Safari is a small, exclusive luxury lodge and therefore ideally suited to multi-generational family celebrations, small weddings and exclusive use for high level business meetings. We can accommodate up to 16 guests sharing our five suites of which three have comfortable second bedrooms. Our luxury hide is the perfect venue for private meetings. Over the years we’ve had many presidents, celebrities and royal families stay at Molori due to the exclusivity of the lodge.
Extra Notable Features
At Molori we have one of the largest telescopes in Africa that is housed in an observatory with a retractable roof, allowing guests amazing star gazing experiences, particularly in our winter months.
Those who love to cook can enjoy a masterclass with one of our chefs on a one-on-one basis, as a family, or larger groups can participate in fun cook-offs under the guidance of our chefs.
We love to see our guests surprised and so always plan an unexpected experience for our guests during their stay.
