Anton Van Graan has worked in various aspects of the Game reserve, Lodge management Industry for quite some years now. He was involved in the opening of new game reserves but also the opening of 5-star lodges. He was “General Manager of the year” for Lion Roars and Legend Lodges and had also been the general manager for intensive breeding programs in conjunction with lodges.
ZANNIER HOTELS SONOP
History & Story
The 2nd lodge by Zannier Hotels in Namibia, sister hotel to Omaanda. Set within a 5600 private reserve, Arnaud Zannier discovered this breathtaking piece of land while travelling the country and decided to build Sonop on this spectacular site of big boulders, typical for the region.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
10 solid tents in authentic 1920s British Colonial design. Over 500 antiques were sourced for the lodge. All tents feature air-conditioning, heating, a vintage bathtub with combined rainshower, double vanity, telescopes and amazing views. A special highlight is the communal fine dining at night.
Located in the heart of the Namib Desert, 220km south from Sossusvlei, 4 hours drive from Luederitz, 5 hours from Fish River Canyon and 6 hours from Windhoek. Accessible by domestic flight, as Sonop has its own airstrip. Remote location in desert scenery with volcanos, mountains and large boulders.

Open-air cinema by the infinity pool, including popcorn and snacks. Horse riding from our own stables. A stargazing activity, in which guests are allocated a star and get to name it in a special ceremony. E-mountain bikes, hiking and walking trails. Group yoga. Twice a day scenic drives. A day excursion to Sossusvlei. Hot Air Balloon rides.
For the gourmet dinner at night, gentlemen have the option to rent a vintage tweed dinner jacket, designed by Zannier, whose background is in the fashion industry.
A day trip to Sossusvlei including Champagne breakfast can be booked.
For safety reasons children under 6 years are not permitted at Zannier Hotels Sonop.
