5 Star Luxury Resort Hotel
Development Strategy
Up until this point we have had Japanese guests all year round and international guests chiefly during the winter season. We are aiming for and moving towards providing a hotel that draws in and satisfies international guests the whole year through.
HAKUBA TOKYU HOTEL
History & Story
The Hakuba Valley has grown step by step over the past century to develop into the 10 mountain winter resort that it is today. The jewel of Hakuba Valley, Happo One Resort, was formalised the same year that the Hakuba Tokyu Hotel was opened at its base, and the two have supported each other for 60 years running. The stylish Hotel became a popular setting for Japanese Ski films and housed the Japanese Royal Family twice. After all the nation-wide tourism Hakuba Tokyu has brought and continues to bring to Hakuba, the Hotel now maintains a powerful influx of international tourists during the winter season.
Date Renewal
December 2018 saw the complete renewal of the upper two guest floors, designed by Aqua Design Amano.
December 2019 saw the renewal of the remaining floors as well as the Lodge Bar and the French restaurant Chamonix.
Date added extensions
In 1996 the original hotel was completely demolished and a bigger version with updated aesthetic was constructed for the Nagano Olympic Games in 1998, with extra spacious facilities.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
Our service is state of the art, with every bell man and woman trained in concierge capacity. Our dinner restaurants are distinctly themed with the Classical French Charmonix and the Traditional Japanese Manyo. An experience of a lifetime.
Location
Set right on the border of the bustling Happo neighborhood and the calmer Wadano area, the Hakuba Tokyu Hotel enjoys the best of both worlds, with convenient access to shopping and night life, while staying hidden in a quiet forest on top of a hill. The closest Ski resort is just 400 metres (440 yards) away and for guests with access to cars, the wider village area hosts all sorts of activities.
Winter season:
Snow mobile, helicopter tours (drop off at the summit), traditional events like the Fire festival, tours to the famous Snow monkeys, back country, great après-ski experiences, vibrant night life and much more. Glass bead making, cooking classes, museums are also on the menu (available year round).
Green season:
Mountain biking, rafting, hot air balloon tours, hiking tours, natural hot springs relaxation and many other sport related recreational activities. Star gazing, Sun rise events and much more are also a must.
Key sites/activities in the area
The Hakuba Valley is the foot of the grandiose Japanes Alps and the famous peaks are clearly visible from designated `Alps View’ guest rooms on the top floor. The surrounding ski resorts are among the best in the world in terms of snow quality and terrain variation, bringing hundreds of thousands of guests to the valley every year. From treks, tours and mountain bikes to snow shoes, kayaks and paragliding, anything is possible here.
Fun Facts
The Royal Family of Japan has stayed here twice.
Our in-hotel natural hotspring baths have an average alkaline level of pH11.4, one of the highest in the world!
Children’s Corner
No children’s corner as of yet but always ready to connect a guest to an outside daycare service or children’s snow park when asked.
