Set atop 6,000 rolling acres of stunning pasture-land in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is the perfect setting for honeymoons, romantic getaways and family adventures.
First opened in 2007, The Farm affords spectacular 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean. The cluster of luxury lodge buildings suggest a working farm with the buildings combining rustic and textured materials with comfortable modern furniture.
Cape Kidnappers is a nature preserve, a collaboration between the owner’s and neighbouring properties to establish a sanctuary for native flora and fauna. Guests have the unique opportunity to participate and engage with the work of preservationists with a Kiwi Discovery Walk exclusively available to guests of Cape Kidnappers.
Cape Kidnappers was opened in 2007 with 22 suites and a four bedroom Owner’s Cottage. Interior design by Linda Bedell of Colorado.

Cape Kidnappers has its own Par 71, 18 Hole Golf Course ranked in the top 50 in the world. Leisure opportunities abound with golf, spa, farm tours, ATV Can-Am adventures, horseback riding, nature walks, mountain biking and wildlife encounters.
Located on a 6,000 acre working sheep and cattle station, occupying a peninsula of land at the southern point of the Hawke’s Bay.

Cape Kidnappers is home to the largest mainland colony of Gannets which are a large seabird – up to 20,000 breeding pairs are in residence over the summer months raising their chicks and fishing
the coastal waters off Cape Kidnappers.
History states that Cape Kidnappers got it’s name in 1769 when Captain Cook was mapping the coastline of New Zealand and was moored was close to the shore. A Tahitian servant was crew onboard the Endeavour, and was the victim of an attempted kidnapping by local Maori who mistakenly believed due to his polynesian appearance had been kidnapped by the crew of the Endeavour.
Cape Kidnappers welcomes families with children of all ages to the lodge. Special attention is made to familys with private dining, amenities and activities tailored to children and there ages.

8 Hilltop Suites and 2 Hilltop Family Suites
Situated on top of the hill above the Lodge, offering comfort and spectacular vistas. Two of the Hilltop Suites offer an option to be reserved as a family suite with an interconnecting second smaller bedroom, making these ideal for children or nanny. 500 sq ft / 46.5 sq metres.
8 Ridge Suites
Situated atop the skyline ridge to the southwest of and a short walk from the Lodge. Spacious, comfortable and private with fireplaces and full (wet) mini bars. 8 suites – 683/63sq metres.
4 Lodge Suites
Located inside the Lodge Building, offering the convenience of proximity to lodge facilities, full (wet) mini bars and two of our four Lodge Suites offer fireplaces. 4 suites – 708 sq/65 sq metres.
Four Bedroom Owner’s Cottage
Ideal for a family or group of friends travelling together, The Owner’s Cottage offers boutique hotel facilities, with space for up to 8 guests. Guests enjoy four deluxe suite bedrooms with fireplaces, large bathrooms, walk-in closets, mini-bars and private balconies overlooking the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
Amenities include a large living room with a stone fireplace, generously-sized open-plan kitchen and dining area opening to a beautiful stone terrace with commanding views of the Hawke’s Bay and a Jacuzzi.
The Owner’s Cottage can be rented as a 2 bedroom or 4 bedroom house.
Restaurants & Bars
Our culinary team is led by Head Chef James Honore. Included with the accommodation tariff is daily pre dinner drinks and canapes, dinner, and full breakfast.
A member of Relais & Chateaux dining at Cape Kidnappers is always an occasion. The dinner menu changes nightly and features local produce sourced from our own garden.
Gentlemen are required to wear jackets during cocktails and dinner. Room service, picnics and private dining are available on request.
Cape Kidnappers Spa located on the majestic hillside, above the with magnificent views across the valley, towards the sea or over the pine forest to snow covered Mount Ruapehu.
With 3 treatment rooms (including a couple’s spa suite, perfect for honeymooners), we offer a collection of massage styles, facials, pedicures, manicures and hair care. All spa treatments are 50-80 minutes in length and packages can be customised to suit individual needs.
A well equipped gymansium is available within the main lodge.
An outdoor infinity edge swimming pool, jacuzzi and cabana.
