ESTANCIA LA BAMBA DE ARECO
History & Story
La Bamba de Areco, located only at 120 km from Buenos Aires and close to San Antonio de Areco in the heart of the Pampa, is one of the oldest estancias in Argentina. Recently renovated with great care as a boutique hotel, successfully combines luxurious comfort and colonial elegance. In the 10 rooms and suites, dark wooden floors, antique colonial furniture, art works, local textiles and modern art combine to create understated elegance and harmonious luxury.
The oldest building dated back to the XVIIIth Century is La Pulperia. It served as a shelter for horses and carriages before, later being converted into an inn where the gauchos would sing, dance or dine. Today it has become in a unique retreat for reading, relaxing, having a glass of wine or sharing a cup of tea.
Excursions on horseback, by carriage, or mountain bike, fishing, Argentinian bowls game, the large swimming pool and the numerous relaxation areas offer the traveller an unforgettable restful experience and an incomparable way to restore energy.
The park, originally of 16 hectares, has been extended to 30 hectares, incorporating now 2 of the most sophisticated polo fields, within hundreds of new trees. La Bamba de Areco also serves as the base of the international polo team that bears its name. Guests can watch games and practices sessions during high season.
The spirit of the place is authenticity, the art of colonial luxury, history and tradition, attention to details, and people feel they are in a private houseLa Bamba has recently become a Relais & Chateaux and a Virtuoso Member.
2010. We made a total renovation. We transform the Estancia into a Luxury Boutique Hotel adding Polo (2 Polo Fields plus Polo Stables).

San Antonio de Areco : one of the oldest and most picturesque towns in Argentina. San Antonio de Areco is best known for its Colonial Architecture and unparalleled display of the authentic Gaucho Life and its traditions. It is the home of the Ricardo Guiraldes Gaucho Museum. The writer who brought the Argentinian cowboy, el Gaucho, so vividly to life in his great novel of 1926 Don Segundo Sombra. Full of regional workshops and stores exhibiting and selling silverware, leather crafts and original art pieces made by local artisans which own a unique heritage of generation-to-generation skills. They are rightly respected and praised. Once a year this little Town hosts the Fiesta de la Tradicion where gauchos from all over the country demonstrate their skills and particpate in the Biggest Gaucho Parade we have in the region.
