HOTEL CASA REAL
History & Story
Hotel Casa Real is situated on the Santa Rita estate. Its late 19thcentury Pompeian style has been well-preserved, ensuring that this is one of Chile’s most unique historic monuments. Our hotel comprises of 16 beautiful guest bedrooms, top level gastronomy, dining and lounge areas and outstanding service; all of it is immersed in an atmosphere of absolute privacy and exclusivity, a setting reminiscent of that experienced among the vineyards and chateaux of France. Adjacent to the hotel there stands a neo-gothic chapel, also constructed in 1880 by the German architect Teodoro Burchard, which looks out onto an impressive 40-hectare park designed by French landscapist Guillermo Renner. The big differentiating factor which guests at the Hotel Casa Real enjoy is the fascinating journey offered by five different heritages: winegrowing (world renowned wines and winemakers); Historical, (vineyard linked to Chilean history through different periods, especially during the process of national independence, when in 1814, 120 patriots sought refuge in Doña Paula Jaraquemada’s house, the building which today houses the restaurant Doña Paula); Cultural, (guests can enjoy a fascinating tour through pre-Columbian and post-conquest Chile, via the impressive Andean Museum which holds a collection of more than 3.000 ethnographic pieces); Gastronomic (we constantly try to ensure that our guests discover a unique gastronomic experience in Hotel Casa Real and in Restaurant Doña Paula where the best of our wines and cooking combine to achieve exceptional experiences for the senses); and Natural, the hotel is situated in privileged surroundings in the Maipo valley at the foot of the Andean mountain range, an area known for its excellence in cultivating the best Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile.
Built in 1880, it was declared an historical monument in 1972 and last refurbished in October 2016, retaining its classical style and giving it a fresh look. The bathrooms and floors in each of the bedrooms are all new. The architect in charge of the remodelling is the outstanding and nationally recognised architect, Alvaro Pedraza.
