History & Story
The Grand Hôtel in Stockholm has been home for celebrities, high-pfofile events and every day bob-viviants since 1874. It was the French chef Régis Cadier who took the initiative and founded the first Swedish hotel to live up to the renowned continental-style hotels around Europe.
In 1889 the Bolinder Palace next to Grand Hotel was aguired and incorporated in the hotel and all together Grand Hotel consist of four palaces in one block. The Wintergarden and Royal was built in 1909 and is today the largest banqueting hall in the hotel.
Renovations latest made in 2016 and completed in April.

The Burman Palace was aguired 2004 and incorporated in the hotel.

Since 1901 the Nobel Prize winners stay at Grand Hôtel for the Nobel festivities. The Noble Prize dinner was held in The Hall of Mirrors at Grand Hotel until 1929 when it became to large and moved into the City Hall. However the Nobel Laureates and their families stay at the Grand every year in December.

Restaurants & Bars
Grand Hôtel is home to the classic Swedish Veranda restaurant, renowned for its traditional smörgåsbord and other Swedish food traditions, Mathias Dahlgren’s Michelin star restaurant and the Cadier Bar. Mathias Dahlgren will during the first quarter of 2017 open an additional restaurant in the hotel.
During summer months The Terrass offers seats outside and Mediterranenan-inspired dishes while enjoying the view of the Royal Palace and waterfront. In one of the small buildnings on the quay in front of the hotel you will find our Grand Café. Besides coffe and delicious icecream, the menue includeds salads and sandwiches from our kitchen and desserts straight from our patisseri.
Sweden’s most comprehensive wine cellar stores 18 000 bottles. Amoung 1 800 labels there is a Mouton Rotshild from the year the hotel opened and Pol Roger from 1914.
