On 17 December 2010, the group opened Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, representing its first property in Europe, a flagship of intimate scale and local historical significance. The Shangri-La Group was founded and owned by the Kuok family. Current CEO is Mr. Greg Dogan. The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris’s GM is Mr. Stefan Bollhalder.
With 100 rooms and suites, three restaurants, two of which are Michelin-starred, one Bar and four historical events and reception rooms, Shangri-La Hotel, Paris cultivates a warm and authentic ambiance, drawing the best from the two cultures: the Asian art of hospitality and the French art of living. Originally built in 1896 as the home of French imperial Prince Roland Bonaparte, the most historic areas of the former Palais Iéna were listed in 2009 with French institution Monuments Historiques. Today, the iconic building once again welcomes Parisians and world travelers within its walls, 114 years after the prince first opened the doors of his residential palace. South-facing and bathed in natural light, 40 percent of the rooms and 60 percent of the suites feature a private balcony. Authenticity and residential comfort are guiding forces behind Pierre-Yves Rochon’s design throughout the hotel.
Shangri-La Hotel Paris is centrally located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, just minutes from the Place des Etats-Unis, the Place d’Iéna and the Place du Trocadero, on the Chaillot Hill. The Triangle d’Or, the Champs Elysées, and a myriad of luxury boutiques and museums are also just a stone’s throw away.
A discovery took place upon renovating the dropped ceiling of a conference room, revealing a magnificent glass and steel structure embedded in the rooftop, which had been covered over by the building’s former corporate residents. It is now the rooftop of the hotel’s main restaurant La Bauhinia.
100 elegant rooms including 36 suites are decorated in a classical French style and elegant tones of blue, gold and cream, preserving the charm of a high-class private Parisian residence. Most rooms and suites have access to a balcony or a private terrace and offer stunning views of the city, the Eiffel Tower, and the Seine. For any events, there are four spacious function rooms totaling 850 square meters, featuring high ceilings, an abundance of natural daylight, state-of-the-art technology. The wellness retreat includes fitness facilities, a 15×6 meters indoor pool with outdoor terrace and a CARITA beauty treatment center, all bathed in natural light.
