Burkhard Wolter benefits from over 22 years of management experience in leading hotel groups in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Most recently, he was general manager of the “Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah ,” a five-star luxury hotel and resort in Ajman in the United Arab Emirates. There, he oversaw the opening of the hotel and led a team of 170 employees. During his career, he also worked as a general manager at several companies managed by Kempinski Hotels & Resorts. There, he focused on individual customer service and operational excellence. He also demonstrated his expertise in management positions at renowned hotel groups such as Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Orient Express.

History & Story
In 1877, the Grand Hotel was built to welcome guests to cure their lung illnesses. In 1891, Villa Silvana was added to the complex in the Art Nouveau style to welcome her Majesty, the Queen Regent Emma of the Netherlands, with Queen Wilhelmina and entourage. In 1904, the hotel director commissions artist Giovanni Giacometti with the decoration of the casino. The “Flimser Panorama” located in the today’s Art Nouveau pavilion. In 1947, the hotel opens for the first time in the winter season. In 1972, the covered walkways connecting the buildings are supplemented with underground corridors. In 1991, a tennis court is built. In 1992, the «Belle Epoque» hotel museum is opened, boasting a selection of objects documenting more than a century of the hotel´s history. In 2015, the hotel is taken over by the director and Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino for the shooting of his film “The Youth”. In 2016, all buildings, including the Waldhaus Spa, undergo a full refurbishment. The brand new Waldhaus Flims Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa» opens its doors on the 9th of December, 2016. In 2017, the Waldhaus Flims celebrated its 140th-year anniversary.

The Kids’ Club offers daily childcare for kids from the age of two from 8 am to 6.30 pm in a separate playroom full of toys and a cyber room with Wii and PlayStation. Crafting, singing and reading are also part of the programme! Childcare is free.
